hencethus@gmail.comAbout Me: I've been married to my wonderful beautiful wife Heather since September 20, 2004. I'm an INTP according to the MBTI personality test. I'd normally be very skeptical (and I am to a certain extent) about this sort of thing, but this profile of the INTP type describes me so well that it's creepy.
I'd Like to Meet: Ethically cognizant hominids and/or astronautically inclined extraterrestrial anthropoglots.
Interests: I like working with computers (building them, modifying them, etc.). Operating system of choice: Slackware Linux. I'm self-taught in XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP, and I have a very limited formal education in C++. I like to play chess, but I'm not very good at it and I don't know many people with whom I can play. I love music. I play the guitar and the bass with somewhat sufficient levels of competence, and many other instruments with marked skill deficiencies. I'm very interested in a wide range of academic subjects (particularly science, math, and philosophy), but very disinterested in academia. I like snowboarding, but I live in Florida--no snow. I also sort of like video games, particularly the classic variety (NES). I am the ultimate king of Dr. Mario. And some other stuff.
Music: I listen to all kinds of music, but I'm mostly into indie rock. A few of my favorite bands/musicians are: The American Analog Set, Johnny Cash, Fugazi, Gang of Four, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Pixies, Radiohead, The Shins, Starflyer 59, Television, and Wire. I have a modest vinyl collection and a massive mp3 collection.
Movies: I like Quentin Tarantino's work as a director and screenwriter. Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill are favorite movies of mine. Charlie Kaufman's screenplays for Being John Malkovich, Adaptation, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind have made him my "other" favorite screenwriter--particularly when he's paired up with director Spike Jonze, who also directed some of my favorite music videos (Buddy Holly and Undone (The Sweater Song) by Weezer, and Sabotage by Beastie Boys). My favorite actor is Edward Norton. I thoroughly enjoyed his performances in Rounders (in which Norton co-starred next to Matt Damon, who co-wrote and starred in Good Will Hunting--another one of my favorite movies), American History X, Fight Club, and The Score. I also like parodies (Mel Brooks' Spaceballs and Robin Hood: Men in Tights, and "Weird Al" Yankovic's UHF) and kung fu movies.
Television: I watch Battlestar Galactica, The Family Guy, Lost, Naruto, and South Park. I have watched Firefly, FLCL, and Trigun.
Books: I like mostly science fiction. I'm a big fan of Orson Scott Card, Isaac Asimov, and Greg Bear. A few of my favorite books are: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, The Gods Themselves by Isaac Asimov, Bear v. Shark by Chris Bachelder, Blood Music by Greg Bear, Pastwatch: The Redemption of Christopher Columbus by Orson Scott Card, Sophie's World by Jostien Gaarder, and Life of Pi by Yann Martel.
Heroes: Jesus of Nazareth, Johnny Cash, Sir Isaac Newton
